My Pip

Her fur a kaleidoscope of color,
body small enough to fit in my hand,
her spirit large enough to overflow my heart
She entered my life as welcome as a cool breeze
on a hot summer's evening,
but could only stay as long as a shooting star.

I called her my Pip
though I always knew she belonged not to me
but to the world.
She filled my life with moments of magic
and memories of unconditional love.

She's no longer a part of my daily world
but always a part of the tapestry of my life.
It's not always the design I would have chosen,
but because of Pip and who she was

and who I was when I was with her

my tapestry is stronger and more beautiful
than anything I could have imagined
or created without

My Pip.
