What's wrong with this picture?

How many of you remember saying the pledge of allegiance as a kid? I did. A lot of schools no longer do that anymore. Ok. I understand times change. But if it's not politically correct to make kids say the pledge of allegiance to America in American schools, then how on earth can it be ok to make American kids say the pledge of allegiance to MEXICO??? This is still America, isn't it? According to an article I read, a 15 year old student in TEXAS was taking a Spanish class and the teacher required all the students to say the Mexican Pledge and to sing the Mexican national anthem. The student offered to say the American pledge in Spanish but did not feel comfortable saying the Mexican pledge. She was given a failing grade for the class. The school district has a policy in place that excuses students if students don't feel comfortable saying the pledge of allegiance to America. Shouldn't this apply to students not wanting to pledge allegiance to a different country?
