Making a difference
I think Baby Bug has finally recovered from last week. It took her until Wednesday to start purring again, but now she's back to her usual playful self.
This past weekend I played cards with some friends. Someone mentioned that she thinks about the condition of the planet, and what shape it will be in for future generations. Someone said that he does not believe that humans have an impact on the planet, and that there is no proof of global warming. And it is also his belief that no matter what we do, we can't change the world. His statement was that he knows he's not that important. My view is that I may not be able to change the world, but maybe I can make a change in my little part of it. I realized just how different my view of the world is from his when I used Baby Bug as an example. I didn't change the world by adopting her. But I did change HER world. And by changing her world, I also changed my own world. His response was "it's just an animal". I'm always a little sad when I realize that someone hasn't known the love and joy that I share with animals. And I also believe that if no one does anything to change, or take responsibility for trying to make things better, then of course nothing will change. Do I think I can change the world? No. Do I think that if everyone does a little bit to change their part of the world that change will occur? Yes.
