My Pip

Thursday when I got home my Pip met me at the steps. I think she was ready to have her mom home. She met me at the steps and demanded that I give her some attention. Right in the parking lot, in front of everyone! Then she raced up the steps and sat and watched to make sure that I was going to follow her. Once she was convinced that I was indeed going up the steps, she ran to our apartment and sat in front of her window, watching for me to come around the corner. Only after I made eye contact with her and she knew that I was indeed coming home, did she jump thru her window. When I came in, she was all stretched out in front the door, with her neck all ready to be scratched. The next morning as I was getting ready for work, she followed me around to get love. Then when I left for work, she walked out the door with me. At the end of my short little hallway, I went left to go to my job, and she went right to go to her day job. I knew that I was in true mom mode when I turned back to watch her walk away and thought to myself that even from the back end she's pretty darn cute!!

My green light green light guy on the bus was back yesterday. That particular bus is a little Dart van, so pretty much anything you say will be heard by everyone else. So yesterday he was doing his usual green light routine. In addition he was giving a running commentary on those getting off the bus. Very big guy........Lots of curls coming.......Green backpack.... No one getting off at this stop.

Football is here!! I know it's only preseason, but it's still football. I'll be rooting for my two favorites Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. This year I will also be rooting extra hard for anyone playing against either Philly or the Vikings. Personally I hope Brett Favre and Vick had terrible horrible years!

I just saw a news clip about a program in Massachuettes. They have a Medivac Helicopter service where if you need to be airlifted, you will not be charged. Instead, the residents of Mass pay an $11 surcharge on their license renewal. Having recently been in an accident and knowing how expensive even an ambulance ride is, I can imagine how expensive being airlifted would be. Fortunately, I didn't need to be airlifted. But I would still be willing to pay an $11 surcharge.

It's interesting how different people react to change. Yesterday some of us were scheduled to have a training session to make outbound calls to some of our customers. One of the guys that sits next to me got quite upset, making comments like, "They didn't tell me ahead of time", "I'm not mentally prepared", "That's not my job", "I wasn't hired to do that". I won't bore you with all the details, but this outbound call training helps me as an employee meet the requirements that they want me to meet and also helps our customers by reminding them that they have stuff expiring in the next 2-3 months. So for me, there's no downside, no penalty for at least trying it. But this guy got so stressed out that he emailed human resources and said he wasn't going to do it. Then he also had to go home because he just couldn't handle taking any more calls because he was so stressed out.
