So my friends that I had been house sitting for have returned from Greece after 3 weeks. Before they left, they upgraded their Blackberries and generously let me borrow their old Blackberry to take pictures of the Pipster for my blog. Since all the software to upload pictures is already installed on their computer, she uploads the pictures for me. So I was at their place last night and she tells me that I need some new pictures of the Pip for my blog. I looked at her and asked when she thought I might have had time to take pictures of Pip over the past 3 weeks since whenever I saw her, Pip seemed to be snuggled into my neck (NOT that I minded that, it's just hard to take a picture from that angle!). And then where was my IT support group? IN GREECE! FOR THREE WEEKS!! So whose fault is it that there are no new pictures of my Pip? Some people!! Gotta love em! :)
I read an article about speeders from other countries. In Europe some of the countries base the fines on how much money a person makes. So one person who was caught doing 50 in a 25 mph zone ended up getting fined $200,000. And in Canada I guess the fine can go up to $25,000 for speeding. I kind of like the idea of the fine being based on how much you make. That might make it more of a deterrent to more people. I would also like famous people to be treated more like everyone else. How many times have famous people been caught drinking and driving and had to spend less than a day in jail? If we base the fines on income, it might level the playing field at least a little bit.
In France I read about a secretary who had worked for a company for 34 years. Apparently one of her duties was to prepare the buffets for the corporate meetings. After the meetings, employees were allowed to have any leftovers. But apparently the secretary ate a sandwich before the meeting and was fired, because her boss had lost his trust in her. That strikes me as a bit extreme.

You do realize that all those average Joe drunk drivers -the ones lane changing and tailgaiting YOU- haven't spent one day in jail either. Money has next to nothing to do with it until you kill someone-then your money helps buy a better lawyer. And fines based on your wealth? Please. You must love OBoma. Spread the wealth. No thanks. I have worked for everything I have.
ReplyDeleteI do tend to lean toward the Democratic way of looking at things, but as far as spreading the wealth in this particular instance, if you don't break the law, it won't cost you anthing. So the only time you would spread the wealth is if you broke the law and actually got caught.
