Happy Halloween!

Here's my weird/scary story for Halloween. A man in Washington DC got arrested for being naked. In his own house. He had gotten up at 5:30am for work and went to his kitchen to make some coffee. He happened to be naked. Apparently a mother and her 7 year old were cutting across the man's front yard and happened to see him. They called the cops. The cops showed up and arrested him because the cops believed that the man wanted to be naked by the public. If convicted, he could face up to a year in prison and a $2000.00 fine. A couple of things bother me about this. First, he's in his own house at 5:30am. Second, the mother and son were in HIS yard. Would they have been able to see him if they were on the sidewalk/street? And call me silly, but I would rather have our cops, judicial system, and prisons use their time and money on people who are say.....selling drugs, raping, stealing, murdering......Third, I guess I would like to know how the cops determined that the man wanted to be seen by the public. How did they know what he was thinking at the time?

I had a very enjoyable evening tonight. My friends have put on a haunted house in their front yard for the last 7 years. It is a community effort, with neighbors and friends pitching in with both creativity and elbow grease. Tonight the guesses of how many people went thru the haunted house ranged from 250 to 400. They pass out candy, offer food and refreshments to friends and helpers and have a little fire going in their driveway all evening to help keep us warm. It gives me a chance every year to get caught up with old friends, and just to enjoy the evening. So thanks to Dave and Teri for giving me another great Halloween.

And just in case I might have doubted her, my Pip must still love me. She's started bringing me gifts again. Last night she left a mousie right in front of the door so I'd see it as soon as I got home. And after I gave her lots of praise, she helped keep my neck warm and my ears and heart happy. I just love that Pipster!
