It's a scary world out there

I read an article about a homecoming dance somewhere in California. Inside there was dancing and fun. Outside there was a gang rape of a 15 yr old girl taking place. For 2 1/2 hours. In front of about 20 witnesses. And apparently, according to California law, there's no law requiring someone to report a witnessed crime unless the crime is committed on a child who's 14 years old or less. So it's possible that those who stood by and watched may not be charged with any crime. The girl was found unconscious and take to the hospital where she is reported to be in critical but stable condition. What sort of society do we live in where a gang rape is an event to be watched? One report said that they caught one of the alleged perpetrators only after he was overheard "reminiscing" about what had happened.

A man tried a new way of job hunting. He entered a Taco Bell restaurant with a gun, demanded money, then went back to the manager's office and asked for a job application. The manager turned him down and the man left, thankfully with no injuries to anyone.

I spent this past weekend with my best buddy, so Pip was a tad bit neglected. So she made up for it last night. Last night it wasn't enough for her to be next to me. She had to be on me most of the night. Thankfully she couldn't find a comfortable way to lay on my face once I went to bed, otherwise, that's probably where she would have spent the night. So she made do by sharing the pillow with me. That was fine, since then I could listen to her purr as I went to sleep. That might be one of my most favorite noises/feelings in the world. Silly Pipster!
