Made my heart happy

I read an article about Cherry, one of the more abused Vick dogs, the other day. He has made enough progress to find a permanent home with two loving humans, and his new best friend Madison. Cherry has learned to trust and love again, to the point where he has even created his own little dance to celebrate his new life. If anyone is interested, I'll forward the story to you. It made my heart happy.

And on the totally opposite end of the spectrum, a judge in Louisiana has apparently refused to okay a marriage license to a couple because they are an interracial couple. Part of his reasoning is that if the couple has babies, the children won't be accepted by either blacks or whites. I guess it's just very sad (and on some level very disturbing) that we still haven't learned to look past skin color to see the person. Some days it just feels like we're not making any progress at all.

And then there's my Pipster. She's about 3 years old now I guess. But she still is able to make me smile every day. There are days when I come home and she'll follow me into the bathroom. If I don't pet her enough, she'll start putting on a show for me. Either she does it entirely for my benefit since it always makes me chuckle, or she truly hasn't learned that her tail is attached to her. So she'll be laying on the floor and she'll notice her tail twitch. Then she's off, spinning in circles, chasing her tail. She always catches it, being the great huntress that she is. She makes her mom so proud!
