So many questions

First off, I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the 4 officiers who were killed in the Lakewood area today.

My first question is why the "person of interest" was even out of jail. According to the news reports that I heard, he had eight felony convictions in Arkansas and five up here. And he was out on bond after being in jail for several months on the suspicion of child rape. It seems like he was given more than enough chances and is violent enough to be held without bond. Of course, my next questions are why he chose to shoot those officers and did he know that the coffee shop was a place that cops frequented? Or did he just luck out and happen to be in the right place at the wrong time and see the 4 patrol cars sitting in the parking lot?

I also saw a story from Alabama about a girl in high school who seems to have set up another high school girl to be gang raped. The girl that was raped needed surgery for some of her injuries. How do kids come up with these ideas? Why does it seem so easy for some kids to inflict pain and suffering on others? Is this something new in society? Am I looking back to my childhood thru rose colored glasses? I just don't seem to remember such cruelty being so much a part of society back then. Sure, we had fights in schools, racial tensions in some of the schools I went to. But drive bys? Gang rapes? Having babies then killing or just abandoning them? What has changed between then and now? And how can we stem whatever this tide is?

But there is still a lot to remind me of the good things in life. My friends recently got a 9 week old kitten. Can anyone watch a kitten and not at least smile? She's a people kitty. She likes to sleep on people and definitely wants to try people food! And she purrs so much! Now, if the gas would just stop coming out the other end!!
