Aren't there more pressing matters?

So the bare foot bandit from Camano Island is still active. This past week, he dropped by an animal hospital and dropped off some money to help the animals get the medical attention they need. The police confiscated the money since it was evidence, and the bandit's mom has promised to make good on the bandit's intentions and give $100 of her own money to the animal hospital. I get that the bandit is breaking the law, and causing property damage. I get that. Now there's a bounty hunter hot on his trail. A bounty hunter? Really? Aren't there far more dangerous criminals and/or terrorists that we would like put away? At least the bare foot bandit is making an attempt to give back. How about the bounty hunter going after a killer? A rapist? A child molester? Am I really going to feel safer if the bare foot bandit is captured and thrown in prison? Somehow I don't think so. But that's just me, I guess.

I read an article put out by the Ohio State University. The article stated that in the US women make up over 50% of the population, yet make up only 17% of the members of Congress. This ranks us 73rd in the world as far as women being in the national legislature. We're behind countries like Rwanda, Mexico, and Spain.

But I'm still glad to live in this country. This next story put me in mind of the immigration laws in Arizona. I read a story from Egypt. Police entered an Internet cafe and demanded to see every one's ID. One man refused. He was beaten to death, right there on the spot. And people in this country are all up in arms because we just want to enforce the laws of this land and send them back to their own country? Maybe we should send the illegal immigrants to Egypt instead.
