Actually, I guess it's an ice day. My work decided it wasn't safe for us to try to come to work today. So we are getting paid to stay home and stay safe. Works for me.
As I've posted before, I have extremely mixed feelings about the new Muslim/Islam community center that they want to build close to ground zero. The article I read today pushed me more toward the negative end of those feelings. So, now you know my bias.
The developers of that project are now trying to receive up to 5 million dollars from our government in grants to help them build their center. Part of my mixed feelings is that I do believe in freedom of religion, but not when the government has to help pay for it. I know that the families of the victims of 9/11 did receive some money, but I would much rather this money go to them to help pay for ongoing health and mental health issues than to people who want to build a permanent reminder of all that we lost that day.
